Public Meetings

The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky on behalf of the Mason County Joint Planning Commission will conduct public meetings to discuss the survey data to formulate Comprehensive Plan goals and objectives during the following dates and times, and at the following locations; each public meeting will cover the listed theme.

The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky on behalf of the Mason County Joint Planning Commission will conduct a follow-up focus group on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 during the following time and at the following location to solicit public input for determining the Comprehensive Plan themes to stand in for the cancelled focus group in December:

  • The Cox Building – 2 East Third Street in downtown Maysville – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky on behalf of the Mason County Joint Planning Commission will conduct two focus groups on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 during the following times and at the following locations to solicit public input for determining the Comprehensive Plan themes:

  • Mays Lick Fire Hall – 5036 Salt Lick Circle in Mays Lick – Noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • The Cox Building – 2 East Third Street in downtown Maysville – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This focus group has been cancelled due to a family emergency and will be rescheduled for a future date/time.  We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause.

If you cannot attend either of the two public meetings listed above, please click here and fill out the online survey.  Printed copies of the survey are available at the Mason County Public Library located at 218 East Third Street in downtown Maysville.  Please fill out the survey in either digital or paper formats by early January.

The Maysville/Mason County Comprehensive Plan update survey is now live!  To take the online version of the survey, please click here.  The survey will close on September 29th, 2023.

Planning Commission Meetings

The Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the Comprehensive Plan update process with CEDIK.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss recommendations for the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

The Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

The Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee's recommendations for Comprehensive Plan themes.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee's updated online survey draft.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee's final survey draft and the survey marketing/distribution plan.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the ongoing survey marketing/distribution efforts.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the ongoing survey and public meeting marketing/distribution efforts.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, October4th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the survey results and the public meeting schedule and marketing/distribution efforts.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the public meetings.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the public meetings.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the public meeting outcomes.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the public meeting outcomes.

The Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Maysville Municipal Building to meet and discuss the Comprehensive Plan update process next steps.

Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee

At its November 2nd, 2022 meeting, the Planning Commission approved the following list of steering committee members; the list is subject to change, and the approval of a small amount of additional members is anticipated at a subsequent meeting:

Comprehensive Plan Themes

At a March 21st, 2023 special meeting, the Mason County Joint Planning Commission approved the following Comprehensive Plan themes:

  • Land Use and the Environment ("Land Use" is a comprehensive plan theme required by state law)
  • Transportation (required by state law)
  • Community Facilities (required by state law)
  • Economic Development
  • Housing
  • Agriculture and Rural Areas
  • Culture and History

There will be multiple public meetings for each of these themes, as well as public meetings covering the themes as a group.  The public will have a chance to attend these public meetings and craft goals and objectives related to the themes for the Comprehensive Plan.
