Michael Palmer was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. Prior to joining the Maysville Police Department in 2002, Michael served in the Kentucky Army National Guard from 1988 to 1996. While serving in the military, Michael deployed to active-duty Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, for Operation Desert Shield/Storm from 1990 to 1991. His military service was with SVC BTRY 2nd/138th FA, and C BTRY 1st/623 FA. Michael was out processed from Kentucky Army National Guard in 1996, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Also, prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, Michael also spent twelve years in the logistics field, both domestically and internationally. Since beginning his career with the Maysville Police Department, he has served as a patrol officer from 2002 to 2005, detective from 2005 to 2010, sergeant from 2010 to 2016, lieutenant from 2016 to 2019, assistant chief of police from 2019 to 2022, and is currently serving as Maysville’s chief of police. Michael is married, he and his wife Rebecca have two twin boys, Jackson and Jonathan. Michael also has one daughter, Mikaela.
